Diagnoses in Uzbek: “If the money won’t be here within the next five minutes, you will die”

The Uzbek government claims that more than half of the country’s budget is spent on social services, especially education and healthcare. However, health services in Uzbekistan are no longer for free. As a rule, patients in hospitals shall pay for their treatment and medication at their own expenses. It remains unclear whether the free treatment has been terminated due to a lack of financial resources or owing to corruption within the medical community. This is also of interest to our caricaturist TUZ.
