Rustam Inoyatov Appointed Head of Uzbek Fisheries

The former head of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan (SNB), Rustam Inoyatov, has been appointed one of three persons responsible for the development of the fishing industry in the country.

The corresponding decree, “On Additional Measures for Accelerated Development of the Fishing Industry”, was signed by President Mirziyoyev on April 6.

Rustam Inoyatov was the head of the SNB from 1995 to 2018 and was considered one of the most powerful people in the country. On January 31, 2018, Inoyatov was removed from his position at the SNB and on the same day was appointed as State Councillor of the President. The SNB was transformed into the State Security Service shortly afterwards.
